Fear of Muslims

Something i posted in 2010, which has suddenly become relevenat in 2017 with Trump's ban on Muslim refugees and the shooting of 6 people in a mosque in Quebec.
nung dati i was afraid of our muslim brothers and sisters pero dahil sila mag nagbebenta ng mga pirated dvds sa quiapo, naglakas-loob ako magpunta dun and what do you know? they're just like you and me. they love their children, watch wowowee and eat bulaga, cook delicious spicy roasted chicken, etc... in fact, i consider my suki my friends. minsan, pag may bunga yung caimito namin, dinadalhan ko sila and they were pleasantly suprised. now i can walk confidently even up to globo de oro, near the golden mosque with no fear, because the muslim community there police their own. they even helped one customer get his wallet back when he got mugged. 

which made me think, i think the solution to some of our problems in mindanao may lie in piracy---kidding! 

i think if the gov't provides our muslim communites with decent jobs and  adequate public service, you know, things we all want and deserve, rebel groups would have less reasons to entice them to join abu sayyaf or MILF.

and also, i think we shouldn't be afraid of muslims.most malaysians and indonesians are muslims, but they are generally peace-loving people. it's the radicals/extremists we should be afraid of ,who use islampohobia websites/articles  to make muslims fear and hate people from other religions.
